Assignment: Self-Insertion

As soon as this assignment was announced I knew I was going to place myself swimming with dolphins. I have loved them since I was little and hope someday I can make this picture into reality. It was really hard to get the coloring to match, because the original picture of me was poor quality. The shadows and highlights were more difficult than I expected, but I really liked the idea of choosing a picture that was underwater.

"Nude"

I cropped the original photo to eliminate the fingers and nails which I thought were ugly. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, but I wish I was able to figure out how to better do the gold shinny shadows on the lipstick. The demonstration done in class was really helpful, especially with the mouth and neck areas. I named this piece "Nude" because the name of the lipstick in the picture is "Perfect Nude," however in my illustration it looks more pink because I didn't want to lose the color up against the skin tone of the face.
